Maintenance and repair of Digester 4 (Kamyr type) at Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill

Description

Segezha Group is a unique Russian forest industry holding with a full cycle of its own logging and specialization in the production of a wide range of high-margin products. The focus of development is on environmentally friendly technologies for deep wood processing and the most waste-free use of raw materials.

The Kamur type cooking plant is a plant for obtaining cellulose using the continuous cooking method.

The SOYUZ scaffolds were used to carry out fire work inside the digester and were installed at three levels:

• From zero to +5.50 m.

• From +36.00 to +44.50 m.

• From +21.60 to +30.60 m.

Before using the SOYUZ modular wedge scaffolding, work in such installations was carried out using a wooden raft and gradually filling the boiler with water. At this point, workers, climbing inside the vessel, carried out various types of work (sandblasting, fire protection, insulation, and others).

With this method of work, their quality suffered and more time was spent on the repair itself, and the number of stop repairs at the enterprise increased. Moreover, this method was dangerous from the point of view of work organization.

SOYUZ scaffolding allowed for safe and quick access to the internal surface of the installation, which significantly increased the quality and speed of the work performed, since work can be carried out simultaneously at all marks, and a reliable and stable base for the working level was provided.

For ideal adjustment of the working levels to the cylindrical shape of the boiler, special corner and arched decks were developed and manufactured.
