On 5 June 2024 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Government of the Udmurt Republic and SOYUZ Scaffolding Plant signed an agreement on cooperation and collaboration on the implementation of the investment project. It involves the manufacturing of high-load scaffolding elements and structures for the erection of high-rise structures.
The document was signed by Alexander Brechalov, Head of the Udmurt Republic, and Oleg Smirnov, General Director of SOYUZ Scaffolding Plant.
Udmurt company SOYUZ has been manufacturing professional scaffolding since 2018. The number of orders is growing every year. Therefore, the company had to build a new production site in Izhevsk. It is planned to launch a hot-dip galvanizing shop at the new plant. The method of metal elements galvanizing significantly increases the anti-corrosion properties. So far, the company has been using third-party galvanizing services. In the new shop, the galvanizing process will be adapted to the design of scaffolding manufactured by SOYUZ. The procedure is relatively simple, but requires skilled personnel and special equipment.
The project also involves the development of sample testing technology and the launch of a pilot batch. The new plant will increase production from 850 to 1600-1800 tonnes per month. The start-up of the hot-dip galvanizing shop is scheduled for the end of 2025. It will have more than 50 job openings.
The budget of the hot-dip galvanizing shop construction project exceeds RUB 400 million. Of these, RUB 150 million are own funds, and RUB 250 million are funds from a grant program to ‘nurture’ technology companies to meet the requirements of large Russian corporations. The operator of the program is the Engineering and Innovation Support Center.
‘Launching such investment projects in Udmurtia is very important for the region. The hot-dip galvanizing shop at the site under construction will allow the company to reduce its dependence on external suppliers, and Udmurtia will get new jobs and taxes. Small and medium-sized businesses are behind the big economy of the republic. At the end of last year, the share of SMEs in the consolidated budget of the republic was 28.6 per cent. Every year this number grows, last year it increased by almost 7 billion rubles compared to 2022. This is thanks, in particular, to the launch of new investment projects’, - said the Head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov.
‘Today we have taken an important step in promoting co-operation between the Government of the Udmurt Republic and SOYUZ Scaffolding Plant. The signed agreement opens up new opportunities for the development of domestic scaffolding production, promotes import substitution and increases the independence of the Russian market from foreign suppliers. On behalf of the company I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Government of the Udmurt Republic for supporting the implementation of such significant projects that contribute to the improvement of the investment climate both in the region and in the country as a whole’, - emphasized Oleg Smirnov, General Director of SOYUZ Scaffolding Plant.
SOYUZ scaffolding is unique equipment for professional industrial use. It is not inferior in quality to foreign counterparts and can be used for highly critical facilities, as well as for technically complex or unique facilities. The most renowned companies work with this plant: Rosneft, Lukoil, Rosatom, SIBUR Holding, GAZPROM, VELESSTROY, United Shipbuilding Corporation, Segezha Group and others.
