General description

Scaffolding for enclosed and confined spaces is a separate type of scaffolding, which has its own distinctive features, compliance with which is mandatory.

As a rule, access to the inside of tanks, equipment, vessels, boilers and other enclosed spaces is carried out through manholes, the diameter of which is about 500 mm.

Such restrictions strongly influence the range of scaffolding elements that can be used in such projects. For example, scaffolding frames, ready-made access decks with a hatch, lattice girders and other large elements of scaffolding cannot be used due to their size, they simply will not pass through manholes, in such cases our engineers are thinking over alternatives (sometimes special solutions) for a specific project.

It is extremely important in such projects to have sufficient lighting. It is necessary to design “aerial” scaffolding and include perforated flooring in the project in order to minimize obstacles in the path of the light flux.

If we are talking about explosive and fire-hazardous environments, it is necessary to use special copper hammers to prevent sparking during the scaffolding installation.

It is important to note that SOYUZ scaffolding has an intrinsically safe certificate, which confirms its explosion- and fire-proof design and the ability to use scaffolding at particularly hazardous industrial facilities.

As a rule, such projects are carried out at existing enterprises during shutdown repairs, and the speed of scaffolding assembly is paramount to reduce equipment downtime, which is why SOYUZ scaffolding is thought out to the smallest detail to ensure maximum installation speed in compliance with all labor safety rules when working at height.
